T.Y. Wang will be presenting the second of his two lectures, “U.S. Policy toward Taiwan,” which aims to examine the United States’ policy on the Taiwan issue. Focus on the following research questions: Why is U.S. policy on the Taiwan issue characterized as “strategic ambiguity”? What is the theoretical basis of “strategic ambiguity”? What are the implications of recent developments in cross-Strait relations to this policy? Dr. Wang received his Ph.D. in Political Science from State University of New York at Buffalo and is a Professor in the Department of Politics and Government, Illinois State University. He is also the Co-Editor South-East Asia of Journal of Asian and African Studies.
