Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai is an eminent Chinese fiction writer and a pioneering figure in Taiwan’s Modernist literary movement as well as the recent revival of the classical Chinese opera form, kunqu.  Renowned author of Taipei People, Kenneth Pai will discuss his most recent work, My Father and the Republic of China, a photo-biography of his father, Bai Chongxi, whose life and career mirror the rise and fall of the Republic of China.  Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai is Professor Emeritus of Chinese Literature at the University of California at Santa Barbara.
