1) Mochizuki Memorial Award
Mochizuki Memorial Awards were established in memory of Horace Mochizuki, who taught Mathematics, and Keiko Mochizuki, who taught Japanese language, both at UCSB. Each year, generally one award is given to an outstanding student from any of level of Japanese language courses. The awardee need not be a major in East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies.

2) Excellence Award
Excellence Award is departmental award given to students in theJapanese language courses to recognize their continuous efforts and outstanding performance in the Japanese language courses.

3) Japanese National Honor Society
This is a nation-wide award given by American Association of Teachers of Japanese to recognize and encourage scholastic achievement and excellence in the study of the Japanese language. For more information, click here.
