Award for Students
Through Jennifer Hsuís efforts and acquaintance with Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Drew, the Drew Fund was established in the East Asian Languages department in support of the Chinese program in 2003. This gift is used for awards for outstanding lecturers, TAs, and students, as well as in support of the Chinese Programís cultural activities. Our students, TAs and Chinese language instructors have been benefited greatly in attending conferences and purchasing teaching materials and holding many events to benefit students. These were all made possible by the Drew fund.
Huayu Enrichment Scholarship
Over 25 students from UCSB won the Huayu Scholarship and studied Chinese in Taiwan for the past 8 years. The scholarships cover tuition, and room and board. We always receive positive feedback about our students. TECO always invites our students to lead their Q&A orientation for new students in Los Angeles.
