The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies is committed to promoting the highest level of education and personal development for our students and community and to advancing top-quality and innovative research on various aspects of East Civilizations (China, Japan, and Korea). We specialize not only in the modern languages of China and Japan, but also in their classical traditions. In addition, we work on and teach various central components of East Asian civilizations: literature, theater, cinema, society, religions, philosophies, history, and visual cultures, including intercultural, transnational, and comparative issues. Our alumni, parents, and friends provide essential support for teaching, research, and program needs. The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies benefits from annual unrestricted support and major gifts designated for special purposes. Your generosity plays a critical role in our ability to fulfill our mission and is truly appreciated. If you would like to play a stewardship role in the future of our department, and thus of our students and our community, please consider contributing today! Every gift counts.
