Question :

Since I am a native speaker I don't have any prerequisites of lower language classes in my records. This blocks my enrollment for classes I should be taking for my level of speaking. So, what can I do?

Answer:

Go to the class instructor to obtain a proficiency waiver and signature . This waiver should be turned into the advisor so your proficiency can be updated in the system. This waiver takes care of all or part of the language requirement for your major/minor.

Question :

I am interested in declaring a major or applying for a minor. Do I have to finish the lower division courses before I can enroll in upper division courses?

Answer:

No. However, you have to take your language courses in sequence because they are a prerequisite for some upper division courses. Also, some upper divison courses require an upper division standing.

Question :

I enrolled in a class listed in the Schedule of Classes, but it is takes place at a different place/time/day or has been cancelled. Why has it not been changed?

Answer:

The Schedule of Classes is printed long before the quarter begins and course matters are finalized. Before registering, make sure to check the most recent schedule in GOLD or consult the undergraduate advisor in the department.

Question:

I am ready to go on the Education Abroad Program. Will my courses be transferred and will they apply to my major/minor?

Answer:

In order to ensure application to your major/minor, request syllabi of the courses you wish to take and bring it to the undergraduate advisor approve it. Then when you return from your program go to the EAP office for a EAP Petition and bring it to the undergraduate advisor for signature. This petition will allow you to substitute EAP classes for required unit credit.

Question :

What happens when I apply for a minor? How do I know that it will be processed?

Answer:

It is recommended that you declare a minor with the undergraduate advisor who can open a file for you. It is your responsbility to notify the undergraduate advisor by your last quarter that you have fulfilled the required classes for a minor. The advisor then completes a minor clearance form showing the fulfillment of classes for your minor and files in with Letters & Science. Without the clearance form your minor will not be official.

Question :

I want to double major from two departments. Do I need the signatures of the two chairs?

Answer:

It depends. If you declare the two new majors at the same time, you need both signatures. If you add one major to another major, which you had declared earlier you only need the signature of the chair from the new major.

Question :

I did not finish a course. What should I do?

Answer:

If you have not officially dropped the course you will have to petition for an incomplete. The petition is obtained at the office or the Registrar - the instructor must approve the petition, and it must be filed before the end of the quarter in which you were enrolled in the course. If you do not file an incomplete the grade in the class will become an "F" after one quarter.

Question :

I have taken a course with the pass/no pass grading option and I now want to change it to a letter grade.

Answer:

It is not possible to do this if the class has already been graded. The only time you can change a grading option is any time until the end of the 7th week of instruction through RBT.
