Tourism in East Asia

Xi'an, China

Xi'an is one of the major ancient capitals of China.  In more than 3,000 years of the city's history, it has been the capital of 13 different dynasties, and it is currently the capital of Shaanxi province.  The city has many historical sights to see, but it is probably most famous for the Terracotta Army, a collection of over 8,000 life-size statues of soldiers and horses.  They were found buried near the mausoleum of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.  Today, the archaeological site receives almost two million visitors per year, and is a World Heritage Site.
