Tourism in East Asia

Niigata Prefecture, Japan

Niigata Prefecture is on the coast of the Sea of Japan.  Most tourists come here to ski or to visit onsen (natural hot springs), but the prefecture is also home to another foreign country theme park, Roshia-mura ("Russia Village").  The town of Sasakami, where Roshia-mura is located, merged into the city of Agano in 2004.

Reading Connection
Roshia-mura is mentioned in the article "Foreign Country Theme Parks: A New Theme or an Old Japanese Pattern?" by Joy Hendry.
