| Lan-yu,
or Orchid, Island is located off the southeastern coast of Taiwan.
It is home to the Tao Taiwanese or Yami people, of whom there
are about two thousand. Most visitors come to explore the
Yami culture. The island's two small hotels make it an ideal
vacation destination for people who like to get off the beaten path and
see places where there are few other tourists. Research This site was the topic of a final paper in Fall 2005. The sources used for that paper are listed here.
