Chinese Language Pedagogy & Linguistics

The program integrates studies of linguistics and its pedagogical applications. Students may choose to focus on either the former or the latter.

Students are required to take two seminars related to Chinese language pedagogy or diachronic/synchronic studies of the Chinese language offered in EALCS as well as one general linguistics course from the Linguistics Department. Students who choose Language Pedagogy are highly recommended to add the interdepartmental Applied Linguistics Emphasis (for details, see www.appliedlinguistics.ucsb.edu).
